Where Montmorency Inmates Are Housed

The Montmorency County Sheriff's Office runs arrests, warrant service, and paper service across the county. It does not keep long-term inmates in Atlanta. The sheriff's jail information page states that Montmorency County inmates are housed at the Alpena County Correctional Facility.

That single fact drives the whole search. Alpena County runs the roster, the visits, and the mail once a person is lodged. Montmorency stays the local law enforcement agency for the arrest report, warrant arrests, and initial arrest details. So a custody question often needs two offices, not one. Sheriff Chad Brown leads the Montmorency office, and Undersheriff Brian Crane serves as second in command. A county jail roster is a short-term list. It shows people held right now or booked recently. 2. Wait for the JailTracker portal to load fully; the app assembles in your browser.
3. Enter the person's last name, then add a first name to narrow a common surname.
4. Review the returned list for a match on name and booking date.
5. Open the individual record to read the booking and charge details shown.

If the person does not appear, they may not be lodged yet, or they may have been released. Call the Montmorency Sheriff to confirm the arrest and the lodging destination.

Jail and Sheriff Contact Details

Two offices matter for a Montmorency custody question. The Montmorency Sheriff took the arrest. The Alpena jail holds the person. Alpena's jail location page lists the address and phone line for corrections.

The Alpena facility opened in 2021 and holds 94 inmate beds. Alpena voters approved the new jail on November 7, 2017, and inmates moved in on October 31, 2021. Booking and the Montmorency Court Path

The court charges start somewhere else. All adult criminal cases begin in the 88-2 District Court, where the defendant hears the charges, learns their rights, and has bond addressed at arraignment.

Felony cases do not stay in district court. If the judge finds probable cause after the preliminary examination, the case is bound over to the 26th Circuit Court for trial. So one person can hold an Alpena booking record, a district court file, and later a circuit court file. All inmate mail must go through the USPS. Incoming mail is opened and inspected, and no mail from another inmate or facility is accepted. No inmate number is needed on the envelope. Address a letter like this:

Letters without a return address are discarded, so add yours. Write in black or blue ink, pencil, or type the letter. Several items get a letter denied and returned.

• Correspondence with a crime victim.

Montmorency Jail Bonds and Payments
